Thanks to Rev. Pastor Wendell Mettey, Founder and President of Mathew 25 Ministries located in Cincinnati, Ohio, we got enrolled in the humanitarian help program, Funded Transportation Program, run by the United States Department of State. This program is designed to help underdeveloped countries with cargo shipments. Since 1997 to present, DOS has sent all our cargo to Nicaragua. When we have five or more containers ready to go, we call them and they send their containers to Christ the King to be loaded. Once, we were not able to ship through this program due to the tsunami in Asia, the earthquake in Pakistan, and the natural disasters in this country.
All humanitarian programs that the US Government has to help other countries were cut to take care only of the victims of these disasters. Pastor Mettey, a Christian and compassionate man, reached out to our ministry by partnering with us through the USAID Freight Refund Program and paid $18,900 for the shipment of eight containers. Our eternal gratitude to Pastor Mettey.
It is important to mention that Rev. Pastor Mettey began his ministry as the result of a trip to Nicaragua with a group of doctors and nurses in 1990. After seeing the endless poverty and devastation, he made a promise to himself to help the people of Nicaragua.
Dave Jeffries, one of our directors, asked the people of God that have a deep relationship with Jesus and work for Jesus, to help us with the containers loading and, let me tell you, the work is strenuous and tedious, but they do it with great love for their brothers and sisters in need.
